How to get Ventrilo

 

1.  Navigate to the webpage shown below (http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php) and click on the Download 2.2.0 button (see red arrow below)

 

2.  After you have installed the software and launch Ventrilo, you will see this screen.  However, all top 3 text boxes will say (None).

 

 

  1. Click on the arrow next to the User Name box (see red arrow above) and you will see this screen:

 

 

  1. Click on the New button (red arrow above), then enter your game name in the Phonetic textbox (blue arrow above).
  2. Click on the Play button (yellow arrow above) to hear how your name will sound when you enter the Ventrilo channel.
  3. Click on the OK button (green arrow above) to take you back to the previous screen.

 

 

 

  1. Click on the arrow next to the Server textbox (red arrow above)

 

 

  1. Click on the New button (blue arrow above)

 


  1. Enter “DeV” in the Name textbox (yellow arrow above) and click OK

 

 

  1. Enter 64.246.48.71 in the IP textbox (green arrow above), enter 3200 in the Port Number textbox (red arrow above), uncheck Accept page requests from other users (blue arrow above), uncheck Allow others to record my conversation (yellow arrow above), and click OK

 

 

  1. Click on the Setup… button (red arrow above)

  2.  Make sure your screen looks like the one below.  Pay special attention to the red arrow as this reflects the key that you’ve chosen to use when keying the mic to talk.  Mine is actually mapped to my MOUSE3 (click down on your mouse wheel), but it shows LALT because I keyed Left Alt + Print Screen so I could paste this screen into this document.  Once these are all setup, I recommend that you click on the Test button (green arrow below) to see if it is working.  If it’s all good, click on OK to go back to the previous screen.

 


  1. Click on the Connect button (red arrow below)

 

 

  1. You will see the following screen appear.  Make sure you READ this…it is their server rules.  After reading, click on the Close button

 

 

  1. You will see the following screen appear.  Notice that your name will appear at the topmost channel (red arrow below).

 

  1. Scroll down until you see the C O D channels (blue arrow below).  Double click the channel where all the DeV guys are located, announce yourself,  and enjoy playing with an organized group.
