|
|
I've noticed that I never seem to get in the map very fast which allows others to take my precious vehicals or UAV
Any suggestions on how to get in the map faster?
I'm running a decent rig..
Intel X-25 80GB SSD for my OS and games
i5 750 OC'd around 3.3GHz
and 4GB of 1600GHz DDR3 RAM..
Where's the bottle neck coming from for map load? |

Not sure pretz,
I'm running an I7-920 at 2.66 with 8MB and 2 GB of 1067MHz RAM. This, with a standard 500GB HD at 7200 RPM.
Although I am running a Killer NIC K1 card
Other then that I'm on a DSL line at, I think, 6 MB download.
But I am the first or one of the first to deploy each time no matter which server i've been on. |

Yeah not really sure what determines how fast the map loads.
I have a fast cable connection but I don't think it would affect the load time that much.
I would think the hard drive would be the biggest factor and my SSD would put me ahead of the pack but by the time I load people are already taking off in tanks.. |

I'm first every time and just assumed it was my velciraptor. The same happens to me in TF2 and L4D2.
This is why I laugh when people say HD speed isn't important for gaming.........to me it's the difference between getting a tank/UAV or just ground pounding. |

Hold the phone. You have SSD's. Can't be a HD issue. What's your connection speed like? |

I've enjoyed your lovers quarrel but back to the topic...
It seems the issue is ATI cards and DX10. It takes 45-60 seconds to load a map in DX10 but one a few seconds in DX9.
Nvida cards apparently don't have this issue and can load in DX10 just as fast as DX9.
Damn ATI drivers

To change to DX9
Go into your documents and find the BC2Beta folder.
In there open the .ini settings and change DX from auto to 9 or 10.
I tested this and it change my load times from 30 seconds to 3!!! Didn't notice a graphical quality difference either. |

Well I think I beat you in what.......2-3 X today so hopefully that wasn't a dream.
A split second or 60 seconds........doesn't matter if it gives you the edge to get vital vehicles IMO.
Anyway sorry FAN thread jacked pretzel. ATI was a good catch. I know there's been alot of EA issues with them. |
